Northern Cardinal Revisited
6" x6" Watercolor on Aquabord
This is my first attempt at painting on Aquabord, a surface that is primarily geared towards the watercolor medium. I am impressed by its highly absorbent quality and the idea of lifting unwanted areas of color, which is nearly impossible on most watercolor papers and surfaces. I plan to refine this particular piece a bit more while experimenting with the granular texture of Aquabord for a new series of watercolors.

William Kentridge
Portrayal of the South African artist, whose works reflect the anti-apartheid movement that has attracted worldwide interest in his performance driven drawings and films. William Kentridge is a true renaissance man for his ability to cross the genres of art, film, literature, opera and politics with great aplomb. The unique versatility of Kentridge speaks to a new generation of artists intrigued by the possibility of using various mediums and formats for exhibiting their work.
William Kentridge: Five Themes is an upcoming exhibit at the MoMA exploring the five themes central to Kentridge's work from the 1980s to the present.

First in a series of watercolor sketches on seminal authors of the 20th century. My aim is to portray the timelessness of these literary figures.
